Ramming Paving Company, Ltd., represents the culmination of many years of service and experience by its owner, John Ramming, in the general asphalt paving business.

John Ramming started working in the asphalt paving business in 1981. He was ambitious and concentrated on learning the entire business of asphalt paving. Working for Asphalt Maintenance for five years, he became a partner in 1986.

From 1987 to 1992, Mr. Ramming served as a partner in Asphalt Incorporated. His experience in field supervision and business ownership helped him develop the skills needed to become an independent business owner.

In 1993, the State of Texas had started its recovery from the economic depression of the early 1980s. Mr. Ramming seized this opportunity to form J .D. Ramming Paving Company, Inc. as Austin was emerging as a desirable location for the growth of high technology companies. New construction and expansion came with the need for an experienced, dedicated, and service oriented paving company in the local construction industry.

With his years of knowledge of the regional market and contacts with general contractors nurtured over a 12-year period, it was not long before the company was successfully bidding both on large patching and larger new construction projects throughout the region.

Equipment is a major capital expenditure in the paving business. Each asphalt-paving machine requires a well-supervised crew. Mr. Ramming has a team of experienced field supervisors and office administration to meet the demands of a growing company. The additions of a CPA, financial planner, and his personal willingness to stay current with technical advancements and financial valuation have kept the company efficient as a business model.

The company operates 12 paving machines and 12 construction crews. The company designed and built its own offices and mechanical facilities in early 1996 and established a permanent operation for its San Antonio division in Cibolo, Texas. Ramming Paving has grown into a mainstream business in the Austin and San Antonio areas.

Our contract mix has traditionally been 40% private and 60% public highway work. The focus on private work has kept the company in close contact with general contractors of all project sizes.

RTI Hot Mix

RTI Hot Mix, Buda, opened for business July 2001. Since opening, RTI Hot Mix south has produced over 3 million tons of hot mix asphalt and cold mix. RTI has produced hot mix for numerous jobs, ranging from private, city and state.

Another convenient location to serve you is our RTI Hot Mix, Georgetown location. It came online in April 2005 and has produced nearly 1 million tons. RTI Georgetown has been the primary supplier for the SH 130, Loop 1, & SH 45 toll road jobs. RTI is also the supplier of hot mix for Sun City & has had the City of Georgetown contract.

RTI Materials

RTI Materials opened June 2004. Located in Georgetown, RTI Materials has sold more than 1.5 million tons of crushed aggregate, ranging from base to concrete & hot mix aggregate. RTI has supplied base materials for 130, Parmer Lane and many other projects in the area.
